YOUTH RIDE FREE ON TRANSIT
Anyone 18 and under can ride free on buses, ferries and trains across the Puget Sound. Participating agencies include Kitsap Transit, King County Metro, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, Pierce Transit and Washington State Ferries.
How does it work?
You can pick up a free Youth ORCA card at Kitsap Transit’s Customer Service Office at the Bremerton Transportation Center or you can order a Youth ORCA card online at myORCA.com.
To ride for free, just tap your Youth ORCA card when you board one of our buses or ferries!
Note: Current youth ORCA cards will stop working starting Feb. 1, 2024. Register your card online at FreeYouthTransitPass.com or visit Kitsap Transit's Customer Service Office (10 Washington Avenue at the Bremerton Transportation Center). Once registered, Youth ORCA cards will be valid for free transit until the customer’s 19th birthday, after which it will turn into an Adult ORCA card.
How to get a Youth ORCA card*
* Proof of age documentation (student ID, state ID or birth certificate) is required to get a Youth ORCA Card. ORCA Youth cards are available to youth ages six to 18. If you received a Youth ORCA card at a customer service office, create a myORCA account and link your card if you are at least 13 years old. Having an account makes it easy to replace your card if it gets lost. |

Move Ahead Washington and the Free Youth Pass
The Free Youth Transit Pass program was made possible by Move Ahead Washington – a $16.9 billion transportation package passed by the Legislature in March 2022. The package includes investments in public transportation, carbon reduction, multimodal expansion, hybrid-electric ferries, ultra-high-speed rail, complete streets and local transit projects.
Move Ahead Washington incentivized local public transit agencies to provide free rides to youth by tying funding to a free youth transit pass. Kitsap Transit will receive an estimated $4.7 million each year in grant funding over the next 16 years after Kitsap Transit’s Board of Commissioners passed a resolution in July approving the fare-free policy.
