January Sailings Overbooked

January Peak Sailings Overbooked

The 6:45 AM (to Seattle) and 5:10 PM (to Bremerton) fast-ferry sailings in January are overbooked due to a glitch that occurred when Kitsap Transit opened the reservations window earlier this month.

Kitsap Transit is asking customers to cancel any reservations they do not plan to use. Walk-up customers are very unlikely to obtain seats on these sailings in January. Normally our reservations system caps each sailing at 88 reservations, leaving 30 slots for walk-ups. Some customers with reservations may not be able to board the fast ferry either once the vessel reaches capacity.

To mitigate the problem, on each weekday in January, Kitsap Transit will offer a ticket from Seattle to Bremerton on Washington State Ferries to the first 30 volunteers who give up their same-day reservation on the 5:10 PM sailing; customers who have this flexibility should ask a Marine Services Ambassador in Bremerton or Seattle for details.

Customers with reservations for the morning sailings to Seattle, especially the 6:45 AM, are advised to arrive for check-in at the Bremerton dock earlier than the 10-minute cutoff for redeeming reservations. Marine Services Ambassadors will issue boarding passes to customers with reservations up until the fast ferry reaches capacity of 118 passengers; no more reservations-holders will be allowed aboard.

Those who ride our local foot ferry or express buses (#1, #2) in the morning to connect should notify the operator that they have a fast-ferry reservation as soon as they board the local ferry or bus.

Kitsap Transit recommends that walk-up passengers for the 6:45 AM and 5:10 PM fast-ferry sailings seek alternative transportation or select other fast-ferry sailings with more seating availability.

We regret the inconvenience to our customers and have put in place measures to prevent this glitch from happening again. If you have questions or need assistance with your reservations, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-501-RIDE or email kitsapride@kitsaptransit.com.
